Estill County Schools is pleased to welcome Officer Shane Southwood as the new School Resource Officer, bringing with him a wealth of experience in law enforcement and a strong military background. A 1992 graduate of Powell County High School, Officer Southwood served in the Kentucky National Guard before joining the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division. Following his military service, he dedicated over 20 years to the Winchester Police Department, holding various roles of Patrolman, Patrolman Sergeant and retired as a Detective. He later served as an instructor at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond, Ky.
With a supportive family, including his wife Stacy of 31 years, a daughter in the Air Force and another daughter in high school, Officer Southwood's commitment to both his community and the safety of Estill County students is honorable and commendable.
