Following the devastating tornado that struck London, Kentucky, volunteers from Estill County schools united on Saturday to assist with clean-up efforts. In times of crisis, we support one another. That’s what Engineers do.

Power has been restored. The Estill County School District will begin at 10am. Buses have already started on their routes.

The Estill County School District will be operating on a two hour delay due to power outages at schools. We will update everyone, as soon as possible, regarding power status.

Due to SB 181, the Estill County School District will be utilizing Apptegy Rooms for any and all student communication. This will go into effect soon. To be prepared, it is requested that all staff, parents, students, and community members download and install the Estill specific app, found here:
https://www.estill.kyschools.us/article/1927609
This app is available for both apple and android devices. Just go to your app store and search for "Estill County School District".

Please be aware that we will be delaying buses today for approximately 15-20 Minutes due to the weather. We do not want load students on buses during this bad weather.

This morning at 7:35 AM, the district was made aware of a possible threat circulating on social media. In response, our team acted swiftly and responsibly by placing the high school, middle school and ATC on lockdown while we investigated the situation in coordination with our district police and administration.
A general threat was identified and immediately turned over to the appropriate law enforcement authorities for further investigation. At 9:00 AM, after confirming there was no active threat to students or staff, the lockdown was lifted.
We want to reassure our families that the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. We are proud of how quickly and professionally our schools and law enforcement responded to ensure everyone remained safe.

UPDATE: Out of an abundance of caution, both the middle school and high school were placed on lockdown while our School Resource Officer investigated a potential concern. At this time, there is no immediate threat to students and staff and the lockdown has been lifted. We are continuing to take necessary precautions to ensure the continued safety of our school community. We will release more information if and when it becomes available.

It is Public School Volunteer Week, and Estill County Schools would like to thank all the volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to support our students. You are truly valued and appreciated. Thank you for all that you do!
