Engineer Families,
Thank you for your continued partnership and for sharing your feedback with us. We value your input and want to keep you informed of a few important calendar updates.
1. Friday, February 27th will now be a regular in-person learning day for students. The previously scheduled Professional Learning Day has been cancelled.
2. Based on the feedback from our Spring Break Survey, we will not have Spring Break this year. Students will attend school in person on April 6th-10th. For families who may already have plans during the originally scheduled Spring Break, please contact your school’s Attendance Clerk to discuss Educational Enhancement Opportunities (EHO).
3. At this time, the last day of school for students is scheduled for Friday, June 5th.
We appreciate your flexibility and support as we make adjustments that best serve our students and school community.

Students are stepping into the roles of U.S. Representatives and Senators, writing bills, passing budgets, and sending legislation to the President for final approval. If a law is challenged, they must defend it before the Supreme Court!
Every role is played by students, giving them a true hands-on experience with the legislative process and a deeper understanding of how our government works.

Students rolled up their sleeves and made absolutely delicious Philly cheesesteak sandwiches while learning how to bargain shop, comparing store prices, meat ounces, and cost per ounce. The results definitely surprised everyone!
A special thank you to Mrs. Amanda Bryant for treating the class to some incredibly tasty cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect sweet ending to a day full of learning and great food!

We are so thankful for CG Bank and their continued partnership with our schools!
Last Friday, representatives from Citizens Guaranty spoke with Ms. Flynn's JAG students about financial independence, covering real-world topics like budgeting, saving, credit, and planning for the future. These are life skills that truly empower our students long after graduation.
Thank you, CG Bank, for investing your time and knowledge into the future of our community. We appreciate you being such a strong community partner! 💙

Our district would like to welcome MAJ Arline Litchfield to our Estill County JROTC! She is incredibly excited to begin this journey. She is currently serving in the Kentucky Army National Guard as a Chemical Officer and has over 17 years of service in the Army. One of her most rewarding duty assignments was as a primary instructor for the Officer Candidate School program in Kentucky, where she shaped the future leaders of the Army National Guard. In addition to this, MAJ Litchfield has served in multiple assignments throughout the United States and overseas. She is an alumnus of the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor's degree in Geology. Along with serving in the Guard, MAJ Litchfield also owns and operates a small homestead here in Estill County, and proudly participates in the Estill County Farmers' Market each summer. Originally from Massachusetts, MAJ Litchfield moved to Kentucky in 2015 and to Irvine in 2023. She is incredibly passionate about sustainable farming, nutrition and fitness. Her hobbies also include competitive weightlifting and creative writing.

Following his visit, Mr. Dembo joined Community Education Director Melinda Barnett at the Estill County Chamber of Commerce luncheon, where he had the opportunity to learn more about the many great things happening throughout our community.
