Enrolling in the Estill County Public Schools
School attendance is compulsory in Kentucky for children between the ages of 6 and 16.
A child is eligible for the Preschool Program if the child becomes 4 years-of-age before October 1 and is income eligible to participate in the Free Lunch Program. Also eligible is any 3 or 4 year-old child, or a child who will become 5 after October 1, who has a special need and would benefit from an early intervention program.
Any child who becomes 5 years-of-age on or before October 1 is eligible for the Primary School Program and will be placed in a primary level class. Any child who becomes 6 years-of-age on or before October 1 MUST be enrolled in the Primary School Program.
Every child who was enrolled in the Estill County Public Schools Primary Program is automatically registered for school for the following school year.

Schools will require proof of residence. Please check with the school before registration.
Immunization Record
All students in the Estill County Public Schools must have a valid Kentucky immunization certificate which must be presented by the first day of classes. A second Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is required upon entry into school Hepatitis B vaccine is required for children entering school who were born after October 1, 1992 or later. Children younger than 5 years-of-age need a HIB vaccine. All students entering the sixth grade are required to have a second Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination prior to the beginning of school. As of March 2003, a tetanus-diphtheria booster is required for those between age 11 and 12 if it has been at least five (5) years since their last booster. This is in addition to the second MMR, hepatitis B series, and physical examination requirement. Sixth grade students not meeting these requirements will not be allowed to begin school.
Medical Examination
Each student, including transfer students enrolling in the Estill County Public Schools for the first time, must have proof of a preventive health care examination conducted within one (1) year prior to initial entry into the school program, or one month following admission, and another preventative health care examination within one (1) year prior to entry into the sixth (6) grade. Students enrolling as a regular attendee in the sixth grade must show proof of a current immunization certificate for Hepatitis B. This is a three dose series over 4-6 months.
All students entering school for the first time are to have proof of an eye examination by an ophthalmologist or an optometrist by January 1 of the year they enroll. The eye examiners will provide the forms students are to present to the school.
All students age 7 and under are to have a date for varicella (chicken pox) vaccine given between the ages of 19 months and 7 years. This requirement may be waived if the student presents to the school a written statement from parent or physician stating the child has had the disease.
