The McKinney-Vento Act defines homeless children and youth as:

  1. sharing the housing of other persons due to economic hardship

  2. living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, or camping grounds;

  3. living in emergency or transitional shelters; or abandoned in hospitals.

If your family is homeless and you need assistance meeting the educational needs of your children, please contact the Homeless Education Liaison, Lisa H. Reece. She serves as the primary contact between homeless families and school staff, shelter workers, district personnel and other service providers. She coordinates services to ensure that homeless children and youth enroll in school.
