As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have an increased impact on our communities, we feel it is important to connect directly with you to share more about the steps we are taking to help keep our students, staff and our communities safe and healthy. Our hearts go out to all those who have been affected.

Our schools are cleaned and sanitized daily as part of our normal course of business. Over the past few weeks, we've increased the frequency and extent of those cleanings due to the seasonal flu. We will continue these efforts over the coming days to ensure a safe learning and working environment.

Based on the guidance we've received from various health agencies, our own preparedness and the current state of our operations, we are confident our schools continue to be safe,

We will be posting additional information and guidance starting this afternoon. As always, we will keep you informed and up to date with the latest news and information. Please call me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

I am sure most everyone is aware of the growing concern around the illness known as the coronavirus.  We as a district have been monitoring the global health concern. We have been in contact with the Estill County Health Department and will continue to work with them and other community partners involved in managing such health concerns.

The most current information about the coronavirus is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/index.html

Currently, national, state, and local health officials encourage everyone to follow the best practice guidelines to stay healthy:

* Wash hands frequently with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, especially before eating, after going to the bathroom, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

If soap and water isn't available, use alcohol-based sanitizers and follow up with soap and water when able.

* Stay home when you are sick and contact your doctor as needed.

* Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

* Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, especially if you haven't washed your hands.

* Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue or if unavailable, sneeze or cough into your sleeve or bent elbow.  Then always follow with washing your hands.

* Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

We will continue to monitor this situation and follow the guidance from our local health department and the recommendations of the CDC.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.  Our goal is to provide the safest environment possible and to maintain optimal student health.
