  • Alert:

As we all know, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all travel has been severely restricted and non-essential businesses have been closed.  This means that Spring Break plans for almost everyone has been canceled.

With this in mind, we are amending the school calendar for next week and these days will now be school days.  Due to this change, the last day of school for Estill County will now be May 14th

This change will allow us to keep our students on a routine that will ensure a continuation of instruction and other services.  All staff will still be available for our families and food service will continue to serve breakfast and lunch.  For any family that still has plans for this coming week, your student can complete their work at your discretion.

We will have further information tomorrow concerning the distribution on new NTI packets for days 11 – 20 as well as the return of work completed during the past 10 days.

  • Alert:

As a reminder, ALL Estill County athletic facilities are now closed to the general public.

Also, with the school closures, the KHSAA has suspended all spring sports and declared a dead period ending on April 19, 2020, at midnight.

My name is Mrs. Krissy Muncie.  I am a Kindergarten special education teacher at Estill Springs Elementary.  I am a graduate of Estill County High School.  I am married to Robbie Muncie.  We have 2 daughters, Lexi (11 years old) and Preslee (4 years old) and a cat named Scratch.  (You must be a UK fan if you have a cat named Scratch!) GO CATS!!!  I enjoy playing sports, being outside, going to amusement parks, and spending time with my family.  But most of all I love my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  My family and I faithfully attend and are members of Providence Baptist Church.

I began my teaching career at South Irvine in January 2013 servicing Kindergarten students.  I am currently teaching at Estill Springs Elementary and continuing to serve Kindergarten students with learning and behavior disabilities.  I have been employed by the Estill County school system since 2005 where I have also worked as a para-educator in the computer lab At Estill Springs Elementary, a substitute teacher, and a bus assistant.  I graduated from EKU in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation with no intentions of ever getting a teaching degree.  However, after working in the school system for several years, God revealed plans for me that I never imagined! I eventually found myself accepting God’s call for me to teach students with special needs.  In December of 2013, I graduated from Georgetown College with a Masters of Arts for LBD (P-12) degree.

I have truly been blessed beyond measure since pursuing my career as a teacher.  South Irvine PK Center was an amazing start to my career. The relationships built there are priceless and I will forever cherish the memories of all of my former students and the wonderful family that I was a part of.  However, I am excited to be back at Estill Springs to begin a new year with my students and my new family.  It is such an honor to serve some of our youngest students in Estill County and to take part in creating the foundations of their education.

“I call my students ‘my kids’ because in our year together they aren’t just a name on my caseload, they become a part of my heart and we are a family.”
