  • Alert:

As we all know, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all travel has been severely restricted and non-essential businesses have been closed.  This means that Spring Break plans for almost everyone has been canceled.

With this in mind, we are amending the school calendar for next week and these days will now be school days.  Due to this change, the last day of school for Estill County will now be May 14th

This change will allow us to keep our students on a routine that will ensure a continuation of instruction and other services.  All staff will still be available for our families and food service will continue to serve breakfast and lunch.  For any family that still has plans for this coming week, your student can complete their work at your discretion.

We will have further information tomorrow concerning the distribution on new NTI packets for days 11 – 20 as well as the return of work completed during the past 10 days.

  • Alert:

As a reminder, ALL Estill County athletic facilities are now closed to the general public.

Also, with the school closures, the KHSAA has suspended all spring sports and declared a dead period ending on April 19, 2020, at midnight.

My Homepage

Welcome to 7th grade.  My name is David Feltner and I currently teach 7th grade Social Studies.  I received my 1st bachelors degree in History from Alice Lloyd College.  I then received a 2nd  bachelors degree from EKU in education and a Masters degree in instructional leadership from EKU as well.  I have been teaching here at ECMS for 13 years.  I look forward to seeing you this upcoming year.

Welcome Back!

I want to welcome everyone to a new school year and hope you explore the vast opportunities ECMS has to offer! Please notice your surroundings as you enter a building that has been meticulously prepared for students. Our custodial staff has provided a great physical environment for our students and staff. I ask that you take an ownership role in our building and help us to maintain the clean, shiny environment that has been created over the summer months. Our teachers have been working to prepare a great learning environment for each student. Much preparation has taken place to get classrooms ready for the teaching and learning process to begin! Office staff, food service staff, and other personnel have been hard at work in preparation for the return of students as well!

Student’s schedules will allow each child the opportunity to engage in language arts, math, social studies, and science courses each and every day. Exploratory offerings of physical education/health, technology education, financial literacy, art, and visual and performing arts will be available on a rotating basis. Band and guitar classes will be available as year-long courses.

There will be many opportunities for ECMS students to become involved in extra-curricular activities throughout the school year. I want to encourage each child to become involved in SOME activity this year and explore things that may seem of interest to you!

Strive to do your PERSONAL BEST in all that you do!

I look forward to working with you during 2016-2017

Tim Burkhart

ECMS Principal
