  • Alert:

As we all know, due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all travel has been severely restricted and non-essential businesses have been closed.  This means that Spring Break plans for almost everyone has been canceled.

With this in mind, we are amending the school calendar for next week and these days will now be school days.  Due to this change, the last day of school for Estill County will now be May 14th

This change will allow us to keep our students on a routine that will ensure a continuation of instruction and other services.  All staff will still be available for our families and food service will continue to serve breakfast and lunch.  For any family that still has plans for this coming week, your student can complete their work at your discretion.

We will have further information tomorrow concerning the distribution on new NTI packets for days 11 – 20 as well as the return of work completed during the past 10 days.

  • Alert:

As a reminder, ALL Estill County athletic facilities are now closed to the general public.

Also, with the school closures, the KHSAA has suspended all spring sports and declared a dead period ending on April 19, 2020, at midnight.

Welcome to Second Grade!  I am so happy to have you in my class!

My name is Kristy Bledsoe and this is my tenth year of teaching second grade.  I love teaching and have no doubt that second graders are, by far, the most fun age to teach.  It is amazing to watch how much students grow, both physically and academically, from the time they enter Estill Springs as first graders until they leave.  I feel blessed to be a part of their lives for this short while!

When I'm not busy teaching, I love to spend time with my family.  My husband, Brent,  and I have been married for twelve years, and have three beautiful children.  Our son, Josh, is nine years old and a fourth grader at West Irvine.  Our oldest daughter, Kaitlyn,  is six years old and is in 1st grade at Estill Springs, and our youngest daughter, Emma, is three and hasn't started school yet.

I want every child in my classroom to reach their full potential and feel successful. In order for this to happen I believe it is essential that I have good communication with parents.  I believe that children are more successful when parents and teachers work as a team and have regular communication, so please feel free to contact me anytime you have any questions or concerns about our child, or just to check on their progress.  I will also communicate with you daily by sending a "home and back" folder that contains a monthly calendar with important dates, a  nightly reading log, graded papers or unfinished work for the day, and a color shaded in that shows your child's behavior for the day.   In addition, I will send home a weekly newsletter in your child's Thursday Folder.
