Estill County Schools Announces New Director of Law Enforcement
Estill County Schools is proud to announce the hiring of our new Director of Law Enforcement and School Safety; career law enforcement officer Doug Cole. Director Cole has over 22 years of law enforcement experience and recently retired from the Kentucky State Police. Several of those years Officer Cole was a road trooper serving areas including Estill County. Director Cole stated that he always enjoyed his time working in Estill County and has built many positive relationships with the people. In his new job he will continuing building those relationships with the students, parents, and local law enforcement. “I am looking forward to being a positive role model for our students and making all schools as safe an environment as possible,” said Director Cole.
As the Director of Law Enforcement and School Safety, Cole will implement programs that provide safe learning and teaching environments for students and teachers. He hopes to provide valuable resources to school staff that can foster positive relationships with students. His work will include developing strategies to resolve problems affecting youth and protecting all students, so they can reach their fullest potential.
Superintendent Jeff Saylor said, “We are fortunate to find an individual with the experiences and qualifications that Director Cole possesses. His hiring will not only fill the void that existed with the recent resignation of our SRO, but will greatly enhance the overall safety of our buildings due to his vast experience gained while working for KSP. Finally, I want to thank our Board of Education for their investment in providing a safe learning and teaching environment for our students and staff.”
