Mercy Health – Marcum and Wallace Hospital has been committed to the communities we serve since opening in 1959. Marcum and Wallace Hospital is proud of its family-centered approach to care, community involvement and promotion of progressive ideas in health care.

The hospital has partnered with the Estill County School System for decades on a variety of initiatives and programs. A new partnership with the Area Technology Center (ATC) is the hospital’s most recent commitment to benefit students and community members. Marcum and Wallace Hospital has pledged more than $50,000 in equipment and funding for the ATC, which offers support and education to train highly skilled workers in the region’s industries, including health care. The hospital will work with the nursing instructor to provide job opportunities for students upon completion of the nursing assistant program. The hospital will also provide guest speakers for career experiences.

“It’s truly an honor to invest in our community in this partnership with the ATC,” said Marcum and Wallace Hospital President Trena Stocker. “We have a strong belief in fostering the growth and development of our youth. We are committed to working with students who are interested in health degrees and educating them about opportunities to be successful in a medical career. Our hope is that many of them choose to spend their future at Marcum and Wallace Hospital. Today’s healthcare environment is like nothing we have seen before and that makes it even more important to identify students who are interested in healthcare careers and connect them to opportunities here at home.”

The mission of Mercy Health – Marcum and Wallace Hospital is to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus by improving the health and well-being of our communities and bring good help to those in need, especially those who are poor, dying and underserved.  Marcum and Wallace Hospital has modern facilities, state-of-the-art equipment, and is a major source of jobs in the region with highly- skilled professional personnel and a medical staff that offers primary care and a wide range of specialty services. Marcum and Wallace Hospital is a member of Bon Secours Mercy Health, one of the largest Catholic healthcare systems in the nation. For more information, visit www.mercy.com.
